Whether you can edit payables depends on their status -- paid or unpaid.
To edit unpaid payables
Unpaid payables can be edited at any time. Unpaid payables show the Unpaid label at the top of the screen and the Edit icon (the pencil) on the right.
When you click the Edit icon, all the fields become editable.
Click Save when you are finished.
To edit paid payables
On a paid payable, you can only edit notes -- the field at the top of the screen for Notes and the Notes field on each line in the detail section. Click the Edit icon (the pencil) and these fields become editable.
If you want to change more than the notes, you need to first change the payable's status to Unpaid by deleting the payment record. Payment records are located at Accounting > Accounts Payable > Review Payments. There is also a link to the payment record on the Payable screen.
For example, you print a check to a vendor, but then you realize that the amount is wrong. You can destroy the physical check and then open the payment record and click the Delete button.
This returns the payable to the Unpaid status and makes it editable.
Note(s):
Do not delete a payment record if you have already mailed the check.
If the payment record has already been reconciled with the bank statement, it cannot be deleted.
Reclass Function
On both paid and unpaid payables, you can use the Reclass function to change expense account.
Bill Pay Payments
You cannot delete Bill Pay payments
