Credit Card Payment Statuses
The following table explains each payment status.
In Progress | Initial status that Payment Processor assigns to a credit card transaction. Typically, the status In Progress is only assigned to the transaction for a moment or two; but it can possibly be assigned to the transaction for up to 30 minutes. If a transaction has this status for longer than 30 minutes, contact Yardi technical support. |
Authorized | The bank or financial institution that issued the card has indicated that the credit card account is valid and that a transaction in the amount that was authorized can be charged to the credit card account at this time. |
Settled | The bank or financial institution that issued the card and the bank or financial institution that provides your merchant account have completed the transaction. The transaction amount has been posted to the credit card account and deposited in the property’s merchant account. You can transfer funds from the merchant account to your bank account after a period of time, which depends on the card type. Every night, Payment Processor submits transactions for settlement. |
Void In Progress | Initial status that Payment Processor assigns to a voided credit card transaction. Typically, the status Void In Progress is only assigned to the transaction for a moment or two; but it can possibly be assigned to the transaction for up to 30 minutes. If a transaction has this status for longer than 30 minutes, contact Yardi technical support. |
Voided | An authorized transaction was canceled before it was settled. The transaction amount will never be posted to the credit card account or deposited in the property’s merchant account. |
Void Failed | Transaction could not be voided. |
Error | Payment Processor experienced an issue unrelated to the transaction. (For example, the operation has timed out). |
Fail | Payment Processor could not process the transaction (for example, the credit card is expired). |
Refund in Progress | Initial status that Payment Processor assigns to a credit card transaction that is being refunded. Indicates that Payment Processor accepted the refund request and the credit card account has not been closed. |
Refunded | Final status that Payment Processor assigns to a refunded transaction. Indicates that the transaction has been refunded. The appropriate banks or financial institutions have credited the transaction amount to the credit card account and removed the transaction amount from the property’s merchant account. There may be a lag between the time when the transaction has the status Refunded and when the bank or financial institution applies the credit to the credit card account. |
Partial Refunded | Final status indicating that the transaction was partially refunded. |
Refund Failed | Transaction could not be refunded. |
Declined | The bank or financial institution that issued the card has indicated that a transaction cannot be charged to the credit card account at this time. |
Disputed | (Applies only if your organization uses a sub-merchant account that is part of the Yardi master merchant account.) The cardholder has contacted the bank or financial institution that issued the card and has disputed the transaction. When a cardholder disputes a transaction, the bank or financial institution removes the transaction amount and the amount of any service fee that may have been charged to the tenant from the merchant account and credits the amount to the credit card account. |
Disputed - Receipt Reversed | (Applies only if your organization uses a sub-merchant account that is part of the Yardi master merchant account.) The cardholder has contacted the bank or financial institution that issued the credit card to dispute the transaction and you or another user have reversed the associated receipt. |
Dispute Won | (Applies only if your organization uses a sub-merchant account that is part of the Yardi master merchant account.) If you (the merchant) win the dispute, a receipt is automatically created with this status. The dates on the receipt are the dates the dispute was processed. |
$0 Transaction | A $0 receipt is generated when the amounts of prepays or negative charges are greater than those of positive charges. In this situation, there is no actual transaction. |
Canceled | Transaction has been canceled. |
