Online Payments and Receipts

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When a tenant makes an online payment on RentCafe, a receipt record is created in Breeze. The status is Processing.

The Notes field shows that it is a receipt for an online payment (in this case, a credit card payment).

Once a day, RentCafe runs a task that creates deposits. The status of the receipt changes to Deposited.

Note: This task only runs on banking days - days when banks are normally open for business. New deposits will not be created over the weekend, and they will not be created on banking holidays. Tenants can still pay online on those days, but their payments will be deposited on the next banking day.

RentCafe creates a deposit record in Breeze.

The task consolidates receipts that have the same bank account, so there is one deposit per bank account per day.

Note: You can click into a charge the tenant paid, then click the receipt icon to locate the receipt in the system with a status of "Processing." It will appear on the ledger after the task runs and it is updated to "Deposited."

The deposit record does not mean that the funds are in your account yet -- it means that RentCafe has started the process of transferring the funds. The payments will appear in your account in 3-5 business days.

Breeze and the Tenant Portal

If the tenant has just made a payment, the Portal will show the new balance immediately, but the tenant ledger in Breeze will not. The tenant ledger will show the new amount in one business day.
