This article shows how a prospective resident applies for a unit on the RentCafe website or your property's marketing website. It can be printed and shared with prospective residents to walk them through the application process.

Select a Unit and Lease Term
Click Select to choose a unit.
Select a move-in date and use the slider bar to choose your preferred lease duration.
Click Apply Now when you’re ready to proceed.
Lease date and term options may vary depending on the property's policies.
Register on RentCafe
Enter your First Name and Last Name, Email, and other required information to create a RentCafe account. Click Create My Account to continue.
Complete ID Verification (If Required)
If the property requires identity verification, you’ll be prompted to upload a valid government-issued ID (e.g., passport or driver’s license).

Fill Out the Application
Fill out the application form and ensure that all information is accurate. Some fields are required to be filled out. Click Save & Continue to move to the next step, or Save to pause and return later.
Invite Co-Applicants (If Applicable)
After submitting your portion of the application, you can invite additional applicants:
Enter their first and last name, relationship to you, and email address.
Relationship options may include: Roommate, Spouse, Guarantor, or Other.
Add a personal message and click Send Email.
They’ll receive a link to create their RentCafe account and complete their section.
Click Add Another Applicant or Continue when finished.
Add Payment Method & Submit Fees
You may be prompted to pay application fees using a bank account, credit card, or debit card, depending on the property setup.
Application and service fees are non-refundable. Before submitting payment, you must agree to the Terms & Conditions and acknowledge the Application Fee Disclaimer.
Once payment is submitted:
A confirmation screen will appear.
You’ll receive a confirmation email.
The property manager will be notified.
You can no longer make changes to your application. This includes inviting additional applicants.
Application Status
If approved, you’ll receive an email notification and see your application status updated in your RentCafe portal.
You can also review the Lease Summary to view charges and other details that may be included in your lease.
