How can I edit journal entries?

Updated over 2 months ago

Journal entries that do not affect cash accounts can be edited at any time. If a journal does affect a cash account, you can only edit it before it is reconciled. ("Reconciling" means verifying that it appears on the bank statement.)

Note: If you need to edit a journal that has been reconciled, you can un-reconcile it using the Checkbook Maintenance feature.

To edit a journal entry

Go to Accounting > General Ledger > Journals. Locate the journal you want to edit and open it.

Click the Edit icon (the pencil). All the fields on the screen become editable.

Make changes as needed; for example, you can change the amount in each line, as long as the journal remains balanced. In the example shown above, we changed the amount on both lines from 25.00 to 35.00.

Click Save.
