A transmitter vendor is an individual who is registered with the IRS for a FIRE system TCC number. ("FIRE" stands for Filing Information Returns Electronically; "TCC" stands for Transmitter Control Code.
The vendor record in Breeze is only used for generating the e-File.
To add a transmitter vendor
Go to Accounting > IRS Forms > Add 1099 Transmitter.
Complete the screen:
The Name field (at the top of the screen) should contain the name associated with the Taxpayer ID. Do not use punctuation in the Name and Address fields.
The TCC field should contain the Transmitter Control Code (TCC) provided by the IRS.
The contact information on the screen (the email address and the phone number) should refer to the person the IRS can contact if there are any issues with the 1099 information sent.
The Tax Payer ID should contain the appropriate dashes.
Click Save. If you need to make changes to the record later, you can access it under Vendors.
To obtain a TCC
In order to get a FIRE system TCC, go to https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/filing-information-returns-electronically-fire.
Previously, you could file a 4419 form to obtain a TCC. Now you must file online on the page linked to above. In addition, if you already have a TCC obtained from a 4419 form, you will have to re-apply online.
Note: If you have any questions about how to obtain a TCC, please contact the IRS.
