Can I track my own company's financials in Breeze?

Updated over 2 months ago

In addition to the properties you manage for others, you can manage your own business in Breeze. First, you set up a "property" that corresponds to your business; then you link it to your company's bank account. After that, you can add payables and receipts for your business. At the end of the month, you can run reports and reconcile your bank statement.

The following procedure gives an overview of the process.

To track your own company's financials in Breeze

1. Go to Properties > Properties. Click the Add New button on the top right.

  • Create a "property" to represent your company. Do not add units or tenants.

2. Go to Accounting > Banking > Bank Accounts. Click the Add New button on the top right.

  • Add a bank record and link it to the property.

3. If you would like to pay a vendor, go to Accounting > Accounts Payable > Payables. Click the Add New button on the top right.

  • In the Property field, select the "property" that you created for your management company.

4. You can also create customer receipts for AR (accounts receivable) transactions. (Customers = non-tenant revenue sources.)

  • Go to Accounting > Accounts Receivable > Receipts. Click the Add New button on the top right.

  • Select Customer, and enter the customer name (if exists in Breeze), or enter a new customer in the New Customer field. Because your "property" has no tenants, all the income will come from customers.

  • In the Property field, select the "property" that you created for your management company.

5. Once you recorded all your transactions for the property, you can reconcile your bank account.

  • Go to Accounting > Banking > Bank Reconciliation.

  • Enter the bank, the ending balance of the bank account and the bank statement date.

Charge Codes and GL Accounts

For this functionality, you might need additional charge codes and GL accounts.
