In Breeze, you can pay any balance you owe via text message: for example, your rent or deposit. This article describes how to enroll in Text to Pay on the RentCafe resident portal and how to make a payment through text. This article is written from the resident's perspective. It is intended to help property managers answer questions that their residents might have about using the Text to Pay feature in RentCafe.
Opting in to SMS messages
On the My Profile page in RentCafe, enter your mobile phone number and select the Allow Text Message Notifications checkbox.
After saving your mobile phone number, you will receive a text message to opt in.
Reply yes.
If you do not receive a text message, click the Resend Confirmation button on the Settings tab.
Setting up a PIN and Payment Account
Before you can use Text to Pay to make payments, you must set up a security PIN and select a payment account from which to make payments. Every time you pay your balance from your mobile device, you must reenter your PIN to confirm payment.
Go to Payments > Payment Accounts.
At the bottom of the page, there is an option for Text to Pay. Create a PIN and select the preferred Payment Account.
Click Save.
View balance and make payments
Text Balance to view the current balance due.
To pay the balance, reply with Pay Now. You are asked to reply with the PIN you created in RentCafe to confirm the payment.
Note: You must pay the full outstanding balance.
Once the balance has been paid, the receipt appears in Breeze.
Opting out of SMS Messages
To opt out of SMS messages from RentCafe, deselect the Allow Text Message Notifications checkbox.
To opt out of SMS messages using your mobile phone, text Stop.
To receive messages again, text unstop or start.
Note: Opting out of texts also disables Text to Pay.
