Importing Setup Data (in general)

Updated this week

You can import Breeze data from an Excel spreadsheet, saving time and effort.

To import setup data

1. Go to Admin > Import Data.

2. Select the type of data you are going to import.

3. Click the Export Template button.

4. Save the template on your local computer or device.

5. Open the template in Excel.

The screenshot shows the template for Tenants.

6. Complete a row for each object you want to import.

The Excel spreadsheet has three tabs: TemplateFile, Sample, and Tips.

  • TemplateFile: Enter your data in this tab.

  • Sample: View sample data (i.e. what a completed template will look like).

  • Tips: View an explanation of each column in the spreadsheet, for example, Property, Unit_Code, etc.

7. Save the template.

8. Import the template to Breeze. You can drag and drop the file onto the Breeze screen, or you can browse from Breeze and select the file.

Import Requirements

Owners and Vendors have no requirements. (You can import them without setting up anything else first.)

The following objects require prior setup:

  • Properties require Owners.

  • Units require Properties.

  • Tenants require Units.

  • Journals require Properties and GL Accounts.

  • Bank Accounts require Properties and GL Accounts.

Changes in September 2023

With the release in September, 2023, we added the following functionality to the Import Data screen:

  • You can now import tenant security deposits and scheduled charges.

  • You can also import adjustment-type payables using a new column on the payable import template.

Note: The file format used in Breeze is xlsx.
