ID Verify

Updated over 3 weeks ago

ID Verify is a RentCafe feature that validates the identity of online applicants. After a prospect selects a unit, they are asked to submit a photo of their ID, passport, or driver’s license, either directly on the computer or through their phone. Then they take a selfie and submit it. The system validates one against the other: if the selfie and the photo on the ID are a match, the applicant is validated and can continue with the application.

If the photos do not match, the applicant can try again, but if they fail to validate themselves three times in a row, they are marked as “not validated” and cannot continue with the application.

In Yardi Breeze, on the Prospect screen, you can see if a prospect was successfully validated. If a prospect was not validated because of a technicality (for example, their ID just expired), you can open their prospect record in Breeze and continue the application on their behalf.

ID Verify is an optional feature. To enable it, start a chat with us.

Setting up ID Verify

If you wish to use this feature, start a chat with us, and we will enable it for you. After the feature has been enabled at the company level, you can enable it for each property that will use it.

Open the Property screen.

Go to the RentCafe tab, and scroll down to the Settings section.

Select the checkbox for Enable ID Verify.

ID Verify in RentCafe

In the online leasing workflow, ID Verify appears as step 3, right after the prospective tenant selects a unit and rental options.

When the prospect reaches this step, the ID Verify screen appears.

To start the process, the prospect clicks Begin Verification.

If the prospect wants to know more about the process before they start, they can expand the screen, by clicking the + button for each question.

When the verification is complete, the prospect moves to the next step in the leasing workflow.

ID Verify in Breeze

If ID Verify is enabled for a property, the Prospect screen displays the ID Verification link.

The link opens the ID Verification screen, where you can see the prospect's verification status.

Another example is shown below, where the verification failed.

If a prospect was not validated because of a technicality (for example, their ID just expired), you can open the prospect record in Breeze and continue the application on their behalf.
